Zinc oxide is a white powder that is insoluble in water. It occurs naturally as the mineral zincite but is most often produced synthetically.

• Rubber Industry: Tire Manufacturing: Zinc oxide is used as an activator in the vulcanization process of rubber to improve cross-linking efficiency.

• Ceramics and Glass Manufacturing: Acts as a fluxing agent or opacifier in ceramic glazes and enamels.
