Zinc Chloride exists in forms, including the anhydrous form (without water molecules) and several hydrated forms (containing water molecules) highly soluble in water.
**Chemical Formula:** ZnCl₂
**Appearance**: White crystalline solid.
**Uses:**
**Lewis acid catalyst:** Acts as a Lewis acid catalyst in chemical reactions, particularly for alkylation and acylation reactions.
**Electroplating:** Used in some electroplating baths for depositing a thin layer of zinc on other metals for corrosion protection and other purposes.
**Flux:** A primary use is as a flux in soldering, brazing, and galvanizing processes.
**Chemical industry**: A starting material to produce other zinc-based chemicals like zinc sulfate and zinc oxide.
**Textile industry**: Acts as a flame-retardant formulation for textiles to improve fire resistance and dyeing and printing processes.
