Tert-Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), also known as tertiary butylhydroquinone, is a synthetic aromatic organic compound used as a food preservative.
**Chemical Formula:** C₁₀H₁₄O₂
**Appearance:** A white to light tan crystalline powder.
**Uses:**
**Prevents Oxidation:** Acts as an antioxidant to prevent spoilage caused by oxidation (fats becoming rancid) in processed foods, particularly those containing unsaturated fats and oils.
