Stannous Chloride, also known as tin (II) chloride or tin dichloride, is a chemical compound. In moist air, it readily oxidizes to form a mixture of stannic chloride (SnCl₄) and a hydrated tin (IV) oxychloride.

Appearance:  A white to light gray crystalline solid

Uses:

  • Reducing Agent: Limited historical use as a reducing agent in some chemical reactions.

  • Textile Industry: It helps improve color uniformity, durability, and wash fastness of dyed or printed materials.

  • Cosmetic and personal care Industry: It is used for its astringent, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties to treat acne, reduce inflammation, and promote skin health.

  • Textile Dyeing: Used as a mordant in historical textile dyeing processes to fix dyes to fabrics.
