Magnesium Oxide

Magnesium Oxide, also known as magnesia, is a chemical compound with the formula MgO. It is an inorganic compound consisting of magnesium cations (Mg^2+) and oxide anions (O^2-).

Uses:

• Antacid Medication: Magnesium oxide is used as an active ingredient in antacid medications to relieve symptoms of acid indigestion, heartburn, and upset stomach. When ingested, it reacts with stomach acid to neutralize excess acid and alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort.

• Dental Applications: In dentistry, magnesium oxide may be incorporated into dental cement and restorative materials for its adhesive and filling properties. It is used in dental formulations to bond restorations to tooth structure and provide strength and stability to dental prostheses.
