Sodium Bicarbonate commonly known as baking soda or bicarbonate of soda is soluble in water. It is a chemical compound composed of sodium (Na⁺) and bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻) ions.

Uses:

Food and Beverage Industry: It acts as an antacid to relieve heartburn and indigestion by neutralizing excess stomach acid. And added as food additive to certain food products as a raising agent, alkalinity regulator, and flavor enhancer.
Cosmetics and Personal Care Industry: Generally Included in toothpaste formulations for its abrasive properties, which help remove plaque and surface stains. It is used in natural deodorant products to neutralize odor-causing bacteria on the skin.
Preservative: Added to oral medications, liquid formulations, and topical creams to prevent microbial contamination and maintain product stability.
Pharmaceutical industry: This compound acts as an antacid electrolyte replacement that may be included in oral rehydration solutions.
