Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate, also known as iron(II) ammonium sulfate or Mohr’s salt, is a double salt with the chemical formula Fe(NH₄)₂(SO₄)₂·6H₂O. It is composed of ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate. It is soluble in water.

Uses:
Chemical Synthesis: Ferrous ammonium sulfate is utilized in laboratory syntheses and reactions, including the preparation of other iron compounds and coordination complexes.
Analytical Chemistry: It is commonly used as a primary standard in volumetric analysis, particularly in redox titrations. Its high purity and stable composition make it suitable for accurately determining the concentration of oxidizing agents in solution.
Additional Applications: In the textile industry, It is used as a mordant or fixing agent for certain dyes to improve the colorfastness and permanence of dyes on fabrics by forming stable complexes with the dye molecules. In fertilizer, it acts as a wood preservative to protect timber from decay caused by fungi and other organisms. It can inhibit the growth of wood-destroying fungi and extend the lifespan of wooden structures. Used in water treatment processes to reduce hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium.
